About
Joseph Le is a Vietnamese American award-winning director based in LA with over a decade of creative agency experience working with clients like SONY, BETHESDA STUDIOS, and PUMA. He’s known for his genre-busting action design, eccentric characters, and psychological thrillers that stem from deeply personal experiences.
BREAKING INTO HOLLYWOOD
In 2019, his viral action shorts sparked the attention of the late great Brad Allan (2nd Unit Director, Jackie Chan Stunt Team) who hired him to do action design for Marvel’s Shang-Chi. Afterwards, Joseph went on to work with Martial Club on A24’s Everything Everywhere All At Once, Knights of the Zodiac, and Star Wars: Ahsoka.
His psychological martial arts hood film, Twisting Tiger, explores the shared struggle and cultural tension between the Black and Asian community. Inspired by true events, the story is about a Black Shaolin Disciple with PTSD who must break his vow of nonviolence and save his students from a bloodthirsty Asian gang. It won the WarnerMedia Action Short Film Competition and IndieFEST Awards in 2022.
Having studied kung fu since 2005 as well as spending time at the Shaolin Temple, he aims to apply martial arts virtues into his storytelling. Since 2016, he’s been leading a creative martial arts content studio, Team Red Pro, which has garnered over 114k followers on Instagram.
Joseph channels his past experiences (designer, animator, storyboard artist) to cultivate an empowering and healthy creative environment for all kinds of collaborators. His films encourage outcasts to face their inner demons head-on and make a difference in the world.
