INTRO

I was tasked to storyboard three different early concepts for the Death Stranding TV spot. These ideas were pitched to Kojima Productions, SONY, and then UNIT IMAGE. Big thank you to AKQA for the opportunity to work on this highly anticipated and mysterious game.

GOAL

To portray this mysterious game as an accessible and exciting experience for the gamer. Before this TV spot, the gaming community saw Death Stranding as just a boring walking simulator and had very little knowledge of the protagonist motivation. SONY wanted to change that perception with this spot.

final storyboards presented to hideo kojima (game creator)

For this concept, the entire TV spot played scenes in reverse like in the intro of Christopher Nolan’s movie, “Memento.”
